Janet Jackson’s video, for her latest offering No Sleep, has a very similar feel to her 1993 smash That’s The Way Love Goes, which won the singer a Grammy.
Bear in mind that Janet hasn’t released a single for seven years. And for her comeback, she paid tribute to her brother Michael.
Made with the same producers and writers Jam and Lewis, Janet’s new song and the clip accompanying it are a more grown up, down-tempo, sensual version of the song which reigned at the top of the US charts for 100 weeks.
And she has also managed to get a homage to her brother into the video, where she is seen doing some dance moves on the stairs and tipping her fedora hat. She is then joined by artist J. Cole who raps some verses with her.
Janet is also about to embark on her first tour for seven years titled Unbreakable. Janet is releasing her material on her own label – the partnership between her label Rhythm Nation and BMG makes her arguably the first African/ American woman to do so.
Her latest album will be released later this year.
