Jaden Smith to Open LA Restaurant To Feed Homeless People For Free

2 Min Read

Jaden Smith is set to open his first restaurant for homeless people after the success of his food truck initiative.

The son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith started the I Love You food truck back in July 2019 and it was designed to give rough sleepers free vegan food.

It’s since gone on to serve thousands of people in the Los Angeles’ Skid Row area and Harlem in New York City and Jaden wants to keep the good times rolling.

According to Variety, the concept behind the new restaurant will be that customers with money will be encouraged to pay it forward.

“But if you’re not homeless, not only do you have to pay, but you have to pay for more than the food’s worth so that you can pay for the person behind you,” he explained.

“The reason I wanted to do it is because I feel like it has a bigger message of We Got Now, like, the culture has now; the youth has now,” Jaden Smith told Billboard. “The youth is going to take over and really change and bring something different for the future of the world.”

Through Just Water, Jaden Smith and his organization co-founder Drew Fitzgerald also launched 501CTHREE, which is “a new type of nonprofit for a younger generation focused on energy, food, water and shelter,” according to its website.

“The organization is all about giving back to the community and specifically serving the Black and brown communities that are disproportionally affected by these issues,” he said.
