One of the stolen pendants belonging to singer Mayorkun, which disappeared during his performance at the 2023 Calabar Carnival, has been successfully recovered. The acclaimed artist had earlier expressed his dismay on social media, revealing that his jewelry, valued at millions of naira, had been stolen.
After condemning the incident and vowing never to return to Calabar, Mayorkun took to his social media to announce a N5 million reward for anyone who could return the second pendant. The public response was swift, and on Wednesday evening, singer Iyanya, a fellow artist, shared the good news that the second piece of jewelry had been retrieved.
Iyanya provided details on the recovery process, stating that they received a call indicating the pendant had been returned to HitFM Calabar. Mr. Duke Emmanuel received the pendant, and it was subsequently transferred to Hon. Effiong Ekpenyong MNIPR, FCAI, Special Adviser Events Management, Governor’s Office, Calabar.
Expressing gratitude to the people of Calabar, Iyanya wrote, “Thank you Calabar people for doing what’s right. @iammayorkun’s second pendant has been found. We remain a peaceful and hospitable state.”
