Kukere star, Iyanya, has finally confirmed what has been the entertainment industry’s worst kept secret; he’s split with Don Jazzy and Mavin records.
Iyanya was signed to Mavin in 2016 but less than a year later he was out and was signing for Temple management. Many didn’t know what to make of it as there was no confirmation of the split from either Don Jazzy or Iyanya.
More confusing still was the fact that the two kept sending each other very public messages of encouragement and support, so people weren’t sure.
But in an interview with Beat FM, Iyanya has finally put an end to the talks and rumours.
According to him, there was no beef in it and that he and Don Jazzy and the entity that is Mavin records are still on good terms and are friendly to each other.
He said; “I’m now signed to Temple Music but I’m a Mavin for life”. When asked to clarify his words, he said; “It was not a beef. I was there and it was time to move on”.
Later in the interview, he spoke on why there has been such a shift in his sound. “I like to try new sounds and I started working with different producers, and writers. The fan base has grown, I have fans here and abroad. Some people like the new sound but some people are stuck in the old sound.” he said.
“Shout out to Don Jazzy. He influenced my new sound.” he concluded.
