Yesterday’s online squabble of the day was between Nigerian artist, Iyanya, and a Twitter user, Otunba. Iyanya who had been trending on Twitter for the past week took to confronting Otunba, who had underrated his contribution to the Afrobeats scene in Nigeria.
The argument started when Otunba mocked Ubi Franklin, a high-end music executive and the boss of Made Men Music Group, for including Iyanya in a conversation about top Afrobeats artists such as Burna Boy, Rema, Wizkid, and Davido who are at the forefront of taking Afrobeats internationally.
Ubi Franklin gave shout out to Davido, Wizkid, Rema and Burna Boy for what they’re doing to Afrobeats internationally and he mentioned Iyanya too 😭

Iyanya was quick to respond, calling Otunba a clueless and brainless person. He questioned Otunba’s knowledge of the industry and his ability to undermine his contribution to the Afrobeats scene until date.
And who are you again? Only a brainless person will try to undermine my contribution to this game till date.
You definitely are clueless. https://t.co/ACUFrr338b

The exchange quickly escalated, and the dragging and continuous insults between the two soon became the topic of the day on May 6, 2023.
Same person, different years.
Only hungry people speak from different sides of their mouth.

It’s all love, I appreciate everyone’s contribution to this game.❤️💪🏿 pic.twitter.com/yziq2oOMEY

I had to check Google for the exact definition of “HATE” Here is what I found.
“People might begin to hate another person or group when they: Feel envy or want what the other person has. They may consider it unfair that someone has what they lack. Have contempt for another… https://t.co/wpfioITZ5Z

There’s no place in the first slide that says those songs brought anything major to Afrobeats internationally, my stand remains clear.
You brought nothing major to Afrobeats.
You only brought your waist maybe 😌 https://t.co/HpefQmVbLh pic.twitter.com/Pbq42GA3Fb

We’ve Nigerian artistes who dropped hits back to back in the past, that doesn’t mean they contributed majorly to Afrobeats internationally.
Iyanya falls under that category.
Him using the first tweet to ratio me for the second is clownery 😂 pic.twitter.com/gdGOveQjuz
