Gummi, while fielding questions from Journalists on Tuesday in Gusau as part of activities to mark this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD), said that her ministry would ensure full participation of women in political affairs of state.
The International Women’s Day is marked globally on March 8, to draw attention to the rights of women with the 2020 theme tagged: “Each for Equal.”
Gummi said the ministry would continue to engage the State House of Assembly and political leaders to give special consideration to women in the state.
She said: “under the PDP government in the state led by Bello Matawalle, we are assured of more female participation, not only as followers but as active leaders holding various political offices.
“As we prepare for the forth coming elections, my ministry will continue to create more awareness and sensitise our women of the need for them to be active participants in governance and nation building,” she said.
The commissioner said many activities had been lined up for the celebration of the IWD including the graduation of women who were trained in various skills for self reliance as well as the commencement of the women sensitisation programme.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the commissioner had earlier led women groups on courtesy visit on the Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello.
The group also visited the state deputy governor, Mahdi Aliyu Gusau to solicit for female affirmative support.
