It’s Truly Indecent for Me- Mbappe Worried Over High wages

2 Min Read

Kylian Mbappe is the best teenage footballer in the world and at just the age of 19, he has 2 league titles and a World Cup under his belt.

Also, being as talented as he is, he is also pretty well paid as  documents from Football Leaks this month disclosed that Mbappe asked for a five-year contract worth close to €55m after tax when he joined PSG

He was bought from Monaco for a staggering fee of €180 million (£157m/$201m).

He says he can’t believe the amounts of money in the game nowadays

“It’s truly indecent for me, who comes from a fairly modest family,” Mbappe said to RTS

“It’s true that it’s indecent but the market is like that. The world of football works like that.

“I’m not going to revolutionise football. I’m in a system. You have to know how to respect it and to stay in place.”

The French forward has already drawn comparisons to Brazilian great, Pele, with whom he shares the record of goals scored in a World Cup final by a teenager.

The PSG striker, however, claims that he isn’t trying to be like anyone

“I don’t want to be a copy of anyone else. Like the greats, you want to make your own story yourself, and not be a copy of another.

“I think it’s only natural to have high self-esteem, even if in everyday life you need to have that humility that is a strength of the greats.”

Even with all he has achieved so far, Mbappe claims that he still retains a sense of humour

“There is no bad time to laugh. I always joke, even five minutes before a game. It’s not bad to stay a little immature,” he added.

“There is so much pressure in football that a little bit of ‘joie de vivre’, a little bit of fun doesn’t hurt in this environment.”
