Hassan Sani Tukur, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Kano Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to beam its searchlight on the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tukur said this in an X post on Friday, hours after the Supreme Court reinstated Yusuf as Kano governor.
The governor’s aide said that in light of the recent accolades received by the EFCC, the commission would be mocking the anti-corruption crusade to keep mum on Ganduje’s dollar video.
Recall that Ganduje went viral on social media in October 2018 after journalist Jaafar Jaafar’s Daily Nigerian published videos allegedly showing the then-Kano governor collecting wads of dollars in bribes from a contractor.
In July 2023, the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission said its forensic analysis of the video confirmed it was authentic.
In his X post, Tukur prodded the EFCC to act on the video.
“Dear @officialEFCC, You have been commended on your recent bold invitations of ex and serving ministers on graft allegations. Myself and millions of Nigerians believe it’s a mockery of anti-corruption crusade to keep mum on Ganduje’s dollar video. Act NOW,” Tukur said.
