After 222 days, the Federal Government lifted the suspension on Twitter’s operations in Nigeria at Wednesday midnight and many Nigerians who use the social media platform tweeted their minds into the wee hours of Thursday.
The Herald reported that the #TwitterBan was lifted following a statement signed and released by the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency and Chairman Technical Committee Nigeria-Twitter Engagement, Kashifu Abdullahi.
“The Federal Government of Nigeria directs me to inform the public that President Muhammadu Buhari, has approved the lifting of the suspension of Twitter operation in Nigeria effective from 12 am tonight, January 13, 2022.
“The approval was given following a memo written to the President by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Pantami,” the statement read.

Not FG lifting the #TwitterBan 13 months to election, so they can come back and use this same social media to campaign.
Affliction shall not rise a second time.🙏🏾#KeepitOn

My heart and tweet goes out to all the small businesses that lost revenue and opportunities during the #TwitterBan. May you find creative ways to recover speedily. I’ll do my best to help with some free promotions. 🙏🏻😎

Loool. APC is so predictable. They've now lifted #TwitterBan few hours after this 👇🏼, exactly for the reason raised in this tweet. But wait for BMC trolls to swamp this space soon, telling us @jack and friends have capitulated. Clowns 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡 https://t.co/mzwGNZZ2qB

What #TwitterBan achieved is silencing the pro-government and creating an echo chamber in which the government no longer has dignified defenders. I’m sure the clowns who came up with the idea thought they would be hurting everyday citizens. It’s an absolutely disastrous strategy.

There is nothing to celebrate about the #TwitterBan
They did it because election is here.
They need Twitter, more than any other social media network, to run ridiculous PR.

If you believe that twitter meet the conditions of the FG, that means you can believe anything from the his lying FG.
They had no choice than to unban twitter, because the election is close.
This govt lie for a living. #KeepitOn #TwitterBan

The jokers who came up with the idea of #TwitterBan thought they would hurt Nigerians. They've just ended up hurting themselves by lifting the ban.
