Manchester United have denied that embattled manager, Louis van Gaal offered to resign following a string of below-par performances.
The club also denied that the Dutchman was expected to meet Executive Vice Chairman, Ed Woodward, for talks believed to be in connection with his long-term future at the club.
The 64-year-old manager had admitted he was not living up to club fans’ expectations, after a lone-goal home loss to Southampton over the weekend, and pundits had expected him to get the boot in the same way Chelsea parted ways with Portuguese tactician, Jose Mourinho, who has also been linked with the United job.
However, Woodward is believed to be prepared to stick with van Gaal to the end of the campaign, amidst fears of what a major managerial shake up might do to the chances of the club in the league.
Van Gaal had gone to Holland to celebrate his daughter’s birthday before returning to Manchester on Monday night to commence preparations for Friday’s FA Cup game against Derby County.
