Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has distanced himself from the Facebook post alleging that he condemned the judgment of the Taraba State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal that ousted his party mate, Darius Ishaku, on Saturday.
According to the Facebook post, Wike had allegedly said: “Rape of Justice, Election Tribunal could sit in Boko Haram main zone in Borno and Yobe whereas rivers and Taraba was moved to Abuja due to security reasons is Yobe and Borno more secured than Rivers and Taraba? Our democrasy is crying under APC and Buhari”.
Wike, in a statement through his new Special Adviser on Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, described the page as fake, and anything on it could not represent his views.
The governor being a lawyer will never be a party to disparaging the judiciary, the statement said.
Nwakaudu further said that Gov. Wike had directed his aides never to make an uncomplimentary comment on any court judgment or the judiciary as a whole.
The governor blamed the opposition for scheming to use unverified social media accounts to misrepresent him and mislead unsuspecting members of the public.
Wike said that he would not be deterred by the “unfortunate illegal political schemes”.
