Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has urged the Federal Government to consider evacuating Nigerians caught in the middle of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
He said this in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday, a week after conflict broke out between Israel and Hamas militias around the contentious Gaza Strip.
Hamas rekindled the age-long conflict on Saturday with a surprise attack that left hundreds of Israelis dead.
In the attack codenamed “Operation Al-Aqsa Storm”, thousands of rockets were fired by Hamas into Israel.
In response, Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu declared war on the group, while Defence Minister, Yoav Gallant ordered a complete siege and blockade on Gaza.
Reacting, Omokri said it might be the best time for Nigeria to evacuate her citizens from Israel and Palestine.
“With the heightening of tensions between Israel and Gaza Palestinians, it might be a good idea for the Federal Government of Nigeria to consider the evacuation of Nigerian citizens from Israel and Palestine.
“As a responsible nation, we must look out for our citizens’ welfare, even as we push for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a permanent resolution of this decades-long crisis via a two-state solution,” Omokri said.
