Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has described Israel Adesanya’s victory over Paulo Costa as the UFC Middleweight champion’s 60th Independence Anniversary gift to Nigeria.
He stated this in a tweet on Sunday morning shortly after the 31-year-old’s second-round knockout of the Brazilian in UFC 253 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
‘The Last Stylebender’, as Adesanya is fondly called, is a Nigerian-born New Zealand professional mixed martial artist.
He claimed his 20th victory in MMA by totally dominating his physically bigger opponent in the second round after an uneventful first round.
Costa was left bloodied and required medical attention after the referee stopped the game.
