France’s Prime Minister Manuel Valls on Thursday told the country’s parliament that terrorist groups with links to the jihadist terror cell that attacked Paris last Friday, leaving 129 dead, may be planning to attack the country again, but this time with chemical and biological weapons.
This is coming as the government is seeking a three-month extension to the state of emergency it declared just after the Paris attacks.
The government claims the extension will help them monitor the situation better and place them in a better position to respond to any terror threat.
In the same vein, the United States says it has substantial evidence to support a theory that the Islamic State jihadist group is working on developing biological and chemical weapons alongside some Syrian and Iraqi scientists in the middle East, Daily Mail says.
The US statement lends credence to Valls’ concern about the threat of chemical weapons being used by terror groups.
“We must not rule anything out. I say it with all the precautions needed. But we know and bear in mind that there is also a risk of chemical or bacteriological weapons.
