Is this the official GTA 5 map?

3 Min Read

GTA producer Leslie Benzies previously spoke of the new game’s extensive countryside and the animals that roam it, telling IGN: ‘Because of the scale of the map and the different kinds of areas involved, a countryside without animals would feel quite hollow. At the same time, animals aren’t just a backdrop – you can expect to see dogs guarding areas and causing the player trouble when they try to sneak past them.’

A purported map for Grand Theft Auto V is circulating online, showing a huge amount of countryside for gamers to explore outside the Los Santos city limits.

The image was first posted by Reddit user GeENie, who hinted that he saw the game’s guide after GTA 5 began arriving in stores this week.

It suggests gamers will have good deal of exploring to do when not harassing pedestrians in San Andreas, featuring way more green land than we saw in GTA IV’s Liberty City.

A mountain is among the landscape features (which we have seen in base jumping clips from the trailer), along with extensive beach areas, suburban residential plots and even a remote fort.

Transport-wise, there is a highway running around the circumference of the playable area, train lines, an airport and what looks to be a cable car system.

The bridge shown in the map would seem to align with the one that has been depicted several times previously (below), but again, it is still possible this map is a fake.

Country roaming played a huge part in the last game to be set in the state, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and sees the return of many of its landmarks like Los Santos International Airport and Mount Chiliad.

Anticipation for GTA V is reaching fever pitch with there being just a few days to go before the release.

Last week Rockstar unveiled new details about the TV programmes that will be playing around Los Santos, while previews of the new radio stations, which are to be hosted by Flying Lotus, Wavves, Cara Delevigne and more, can be found here.
