Is Jaden Smith officially a Transgender? See photos

2 Min Read

Jaden Smith, son of actor Will Smith and actress Jada Pinkett-Smith, continues to challenge the fashion and gender norms.

In the latest photos released in Teen Vogue and on his social media accounts, the teen is wearing what many would consider as female clothing, bringing up the question many have been asking, “Is he transitioning to transgender?”

The photo, with him wearing a matching top and midi-skirt, is captions, “My Mood When They Try To Hate.”

The celebrated family has been quiet about all the hoopla that perhaps Jaden is trying to become a transgender.

Fashion designer Louis Vuitton capitalized on the teen’s penchant for “cross dressing,” making Jaden the face of the company’s latest Womenswear line of fashions for young adults.

Some say these are just ads for women’s clothing featuring a man, while others charged, as in Ebony, that it “was perceived as the feminization or emasculation of the Black man.”

Teen Vogue has taken the stance that the young man is just standing ground against gender rules.

“He’s pushing back on the cultural structure, asking what dictates who can or can’t express themselves in dresses or shiny, floral things,” writes Lauren Duca of Teen Vogue.

“It would be so much easier to form an identity outside of the bombardment of expectations which decides what we can and can’t wear. Until those gender norms can be abolished altogether, perhaps our best bet is to take a cue from Jaden.”
