The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to All Progressives Congress, APC has joined the presidential race on the platform of the APC.
Associates and friends of the lawmaker procured the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms for him although there were earlier speculations that Tambuwal was eyeing the governorship seat of Sokoto state.
Vanguard reported that Tambuwal’s entry into the contest was last night whispered in some circles as a change of strategy by party leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who had been largely considered to be backing Gen. Muhammadu Buhari for the presidency.
Including the Speaker, the current number of aspirants vying for the APC Presidential ticket stands at five, they are General Mohammadu Buhari, Governor Rabiu Kwankwanso of Kano State, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State who on Monday declared his interest but is yet to pick a form and newspaper publisher, Mr. Sam Nda-Isaiah.
