Insurgents, Bandits, Secessionists Are All Bad Guys – Femi Adesina

Adesina

Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, has urged Nigerians to pray for the military so that troops can continue to deal with the “bad guys” – including secessionists.

The presidential aide stated this in the latest installment of his weekly column, “From The Inside: Fridays with Femi Adesina”.

Referencing a children’s book – Don’t Forget, God Bless Our Troops – written by American First Lady, Dr Jill Biden, Adesina emphasised the importance of praying for the troops.

He said he believed that it should be “the daily desire of every decent, patriotic Nigerian: May God Bless and Protect Our Troops. May He preserve them, keep them alive, and give them victory, as they deal with the bad guys, and give them bloody noses round the country.”

“Who are the bad guys?” the presidential aide asked before going ahead to answer his own question.

“They come under different appellations. Insurgents. Bandits. Kidnappers. Secessionists. Insurrectionists. Cultists. Murderers. Whatever.

“A bad guy is a bad guy, and deserves to be sent to God to answer for his crimes (apologies Lt. General Faruk Yahaya, Chief of Army Staff). And for those who summarily despatch the bad guys to the judgment bar, may God protect them. Daily. Amen.”

The presidential aide’s comment came as two separatist leaders – Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho – are being tackled by the Federal Government for seeking the nation’s break-up.

Kanu is seeking the carving out of a republic to be known as Biafra from Nigeria but is currently being prosecuted for treason-related offences before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho, is currently battling extradition to Nigeria after he was arrested Monday evening in Benin Republic alongside his wife as the couple sought to flee to Germany.
