Popular Social Media app, Instagram is going over plans to launch a standalone app that caters to users who want to shop online
The Facebook-owned company is mulling this over as it already has a huge space in the e-commerce market
According to the Verge, the app, which will be called ‘IG Shopping’ will let users browse collections of goods from merchants that they follow and purchase them directly within the app.

The online tech news website also reports that they have sources which have revealed these plans to them while Instagram itself has refused to comment on the matter.
It is unknown when it would launch and whether it would even be launched at all
There are already around 25 million businesses with Instagram accounts and a large number of customers already purchase items on the app.
The Social media app began testing a shopping feature in November in 2016, and rolled it out more broadly in March of last year. Companies can tag posts with individual products, allowing users to shop directly from photos. Instagram is currently testing a feature that lets users shop from Instagram stories according to the Verge
This all follows recent moves from the app to expand following their launch of IGTV which is expected to rival YouTube in the future.
