The senator representing Bayelsa East senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Ben Murray-Bruce, has urged Nigerians to insist on a presidential debate for the leading candidates in the 2019 presidential election.
Murray-Bruce made this known in a Thursday morning tweet via his verified Twitter handle.
The presidential election scheduled to hold on February 14, 2019, is believed to be a straight battle between President Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flagbearer.
However, Murray-Bruce urged Nigerians to ensure these two candidates and others engage in a presidential debate to explain their plans for the nation if elected.

Saying that it was normal for an employer to interview a potential employee, Murray-Bruce queried why some candidates would deliberately skip the presidential debate.
He also urged them to refuse to vote for any candidate that dodges the presidential debate.
He said, “I urge Nigerians to insist on a Presidential debate. Refuse to vote for any candidate who dodges the debate. If you want to hire a worker, you must interview him. How can any candidate expect us to vote for him or her as President if they refuse to be interviewed by Nigerians?”
