Former Special Assistant to President Jonathan on New Media, Reno Omokri has commended Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for declaring support for the creation of state police.
The Vice President made the call while delivering a lecture at the special parliamentary session in commemoration of the 3rd anniversary of the 8th Assembly of Lagos State House of Assembly in its chamber in Alausa, Ikeja on Friday.
Speaking on “Strengthening Legislative Institutions: Panacea for Eradicating Democracy”, Osinbajo reiterated his call for the creation of state police to tackle security challenges in the states.
“Local policing is very important as part of security architecture,” he said.
Reacting to the call via his verified Twitter handle, Omokri said, “I commend Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for declaring support for state police as a panacea to the spate of killings in Nigeria. The old Osinbajo is back. It is the only solution that makes sense. You cant call Governors Chief Security Officers if they have no police officers at their control.”
