Insecurity: Nigerians fault Remi Tinubu over reaction to Smart Adeyemi’s passionate plea

Senator Remi Tinubu, Senator for Lagos Central and wife of APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has been severely criticised by Nigerians for deriding Senator Smart Adeyemi’s passionate plea on securing the lives and property of Nigerians.

Adeyemi, who wept while decrying the terrible state of security in Nigeria, said that it was better if the National Assembly were closed down if it could not help secure the country.

The Kogi West senator spoke at plenary on Tuesday while reacting to the revelation by Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani-Bello that Boko Haram had hoisted its flag in Shiroro local government area of the state.

“This is the worst instability we are facing. In fact this is worse than the civil war,” Adeyemi lamented.

Interjecting, Remi Tinubu asked Adeyemi: “Are you in PDP (Peoples Democratic Party)? Are you a wolf in sheep’s clothing?”

However, Adeyemi, a former President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), ignored the comment.

He continued, “We cannot pretend that we are capable of handling the situation in our hands. America, as powerful as they are, when the pandemic came, it came to a point China came to their rescue.

“We shouldn’t pretend that we need foreign support now. Billions of naira has been voted for security services and nothing is coming out of it.

“I’m a party man and I’m supporting APC but it has gotten to a point that as supporters we cannot keep quiet.”

Many Nigerians berated Remi Tinubu, accusing her of playing politics even as Nigerians are killed needlessly across the country.

Senator Remi Tinubu’s husband is rumoured to be interested in running for President in 2023.
