Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta is said to be considering a move to Premier League champions Manchester City.
According to reports, the 33-year-old, who is believed to be one of the greatest midfielders ever, is being lined up by City to replace Mikel Arteta, who is close to being named Arsene Wenger’s replacement at Arsenal.
Yahoo Sport reports that the Citizens are considering a player-coach position for Iniesta at the Etihad.
If the deal sails through, Iniesta will join former teammate and manager, Pep Guardiola, at City.
Recall that Iniesta vowed to play outside Europe when he quits Barcelona at the end of this season to avoid playing against the Spanish giants.
He has since been heavily linked to a move to either China or the US.
However, the player-coach position is said to be appealing to the World Cup winner and City officials are said to be in advance talks with him to make the deal come to reality.
