Tragedy struck the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) when four of its staff members including a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member attached to the commission in Kogi state died in a road accident on Saturday.

A three year old girl belonging to one of the INEC staff members also died in the accident while the youth corps member was performing his primary assignment with INEC office in Lokoja.
The victims had been returning in the evening from Ayingba, Kogi, where they attended the wedding ceremony of another INEC staff member.
The accident was confirmed by the Director of Voter Education and Publicity at Kogi Office of INEC, Mr. Ahmed Biambo.
According to Bimbo, the victims were members of staff from the Information and Communication Technology and Accounts departments of INEC.
He said further that the corpses have been deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja.
