Dr Ferry Gberegbe, the LGA Collation Officer for Khana LGA during the March 9 gubernatorial election in Rivers State, has reportedly died from gunshot wounds he sustained during the polls.
Anuebunwa Victor Chidozie, the media aide to the Port Harcourt LGA Chairman, said that Gberegbe died at St. Patrick Hospital, Port Harcourt.
The Herald could not independently verified the claim.
Gberegbe, a lecturer with Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnic and outgoing chairman of Ken Poly Academic Staff Union, was shot at the INEC Collation Center in Bori, headquarters of Khana LGA.
He was allegedly shot by soldiers led by Commander of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) in Rivers State, Mr. Akin Fakorede.
The Guardian reported that Gberegbe was shot alongside Mr. Marvin Lezor Kpea-ue, Raymond Ledogo and several others.
