Ahead of the July 14 Governorship Election in Ekiti state, the Independent Electoral Commission INEC has begun the distribution of sensitive materials across the sixteen local government areas in the state.
According to Sahara Reporters, the Resident Electoral Commissioner confirmed the distribution of the said material from the Central Bank of Nigeria and ensured it was delivered across all local governments in the state.
The commissioner states that: ‘’we received sensitive materials from the CBN today and distributed them to the sixteen local government areas of Ekiti state’’.
He maintained that four Commissioners of INEC alongside party agents and security agencies supervised the distribution and delivery of the materials.
‘’About 5 RECs are assisting me in supervising the distribution of sensitive materials. Party agents who are here with me have equally confirmed the availability of the materials’’.
He added that serious measures are being put in place to ensure that officials and ad hoc staff who have been deployed will get to their duty posts on time.
As the materials are arriving, there is heavy security presence around the INEC office in Ado Ekiti.
Also, all the roads leading to the INEC office have been cordoned off, with Armored Carriers stationed at strategic areas.
