Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Thursday urged nations to carry out broad cooperation in combating terrorism following Wednesday’s attack outside Britain’s parliament in London that killed five people.
President Widodo said the Indonesian government strongly condemned the attack and expressed a deep sympathy to the innocent victims.
“Since, I have expressed that terrorism is the biggest challenge for us,” Widodo said.
Almost 40 people were injured in the terrorist strike at the Westminster Bridge.
The Indonesian government has set up cooperation with other countries in preventing citizens wishing to join the global IS terrorist group in Syria from entering the country.
Indonesia has witnessed a series of terrorist strikes in recent years, including the IS’ strikes at the country’s capital in January 2016 that killed eight people and injured dozens others. (Xinhua/NAN)
