Hoodlums sent policemen, detainees and natives scampering for safety before setting a police station ablaze in Imo State Thursday night.
Reports say the affected police formation was the Aboh Mbaise Divisional Police Headquarters, which was newly-renovated.
The hoodlums were said to have attacked the police formation armed with some inflammable objects which they threw into the premises to ignite the fire.
The resultant fire reportedly sent policemen on guard and residents scampering into the bushes.

The Punch reported that all the files and documents belonging to the police were destroyed in the fire.
“This is very strange. Fleeing hoodlums have just razed Aboh Mbaise Divisional Police headquarters. They didn’t bother going into the compound. They just threw ignitable objects on the Divisional headquarters and drove off few minutes after it caught fire.
“All the policemen on duty including suspects who were being detained ran into the nearby bushes. Locals also fled their homes as the fire raged. We have not seen this one before,” the newspaper quoted an unnamed source as saying.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Imo police command, Orlando Ikeokwu confirmed the incident.
However, he said that no policeman died in the incident.
