Angered by what they called the continued killing of their people by Fulani herdsmen, dozens of youths from Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State on Wednesday stormed the National Assembly complex in Abuja.
The youths, who carried placards, besieged the complex to show their displeasure with the government’s inability to stop the killings, despite promises from President Muhammadu Buhari to investigate and proffer lasting solutions to the situation.
The inscription on the placards ranged from “Our Women And Children Are Dying”, Save Agatu Preserve Idomas”, “Stop The Killing Of Idomas”, “We Want A Commission of Inquiry” to “Stop Idoma Genocide”.
Recall that some suspected Fulani herdsmen on February 24 attacked four communities in the LGA, killing an unspecified number of people said to be in the hundreds.
President Muhammadu Buhari had few days later released a statement pledging to investigate the killings and bring those involved to justice.
