The Action Alliance (AA) Governorship candidate in Imo, Mr Uche Nwosu on Friday flagged off his campaign for the March 2, election with a pledge to endorse President Muhammadu Buhari.
Nwosu, Gov Rochas Okorochas’ former Chief of Staff and son-in-law flagged off his campaign at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event was attended by a crowd of supporters and party faithful.
Others are representatives of other political parties such as the Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN) and the Reform Nigeria Party (RNP) who adopted Nwosu as their choice candidate for the governorship election.
Addressing the crowd, Nwosu drummed support for President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) while asserting that he had no grievances with the president.
He called on his supporters to vote for the AA during the governorship and state House of Assembly elections and the APC during the Feb. 16 presidential election.
He pledged to consolidate on Gov. Okorocha’s achievements, adding that his youthfulness and experience while working under the Okorocha- led administration gave him an advantage over other candidates.
His words, “I have come to work in Imo and to consolidate on the governor’s achievements just the same way Pres. Buhari is coming to consolidate on his giant strides.
“I urge you to support the AA in Imo and the APC at the presidential election. My experience and pedigree as well as my youthfulness are assets we need in Imo at this stage of our development,” .
Highlight of the event was the handing over of the party’s flag to Nwosu by the party’s national chairman, Mr Kenneth Udeze. (NAN)
