Immigrations Boss Inaugurates Health Facility at Nigeria-Cameroon Border

The Comptroller General (CG) of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammad Babandede, has inaugurated a sick bay in Gurin control post, along the Nigeria–Cameroon border.

Babandede launched the facility at Gurin village, Fufore Local Government Area (LGA), of Adamawa on Thursday.

Speaking during the ceremony, the CG said that the provision of the health facility at the border post was part of government’s commitment to infrastructure and human capital development.

“I am happy to be with you at this important event, the inauguration of a sick bay at Gurin Control Post in Adamawa State.

“Since assumption of office as Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service in 2016, the service under my watch has placed premium on infrastructure, human capital development and welfare of personnel.

“I am glad to note that the working environment, as well as residential accommodation of our Officers and Men, have drastically improved.” Babandede said.

According to him, the health facility is aimed at ensuring provision of essential services for officers, the host communities, and those coming into the country, especially at this critical time of Coronavirus (COVID-19), pandemic.

He also disclosed that the NCS planned to inaugurate its newly constructed Technology Building at the Service Headquarters in Abuja.

Babandede explained that the technology centre was designed to enable the Service get access to data sharing ecosystem.

“The essence of all these efforts is to ensure that we maintain adequate presence, and ensure coverage across our land, sea and air controls, in order to secure our borderlines for national development.

“I therefore, enjoin officers at the control posts nationwide to make good use of the facilities provided in their various locations for ease of doing business, travel and tourism at all time,” he said.

He charged the officers to respect and work with local communities, so they could maintain cordial relationship for useful information sharing.

In his remarks, Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri, who was represented by Alhaji Musa Jauro, Chairman Fufore LGA, said council had deployed five health workers to man the health facility.
