Immigration punishes 5 female personnel over #dontrushchallenge

2 Min Read

In what has been described as a punishment in many quarters, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has reposted five female personnel that appeared in a viral social media challenge last month.

The ladies had been shown transforming from their official uniforms to evening dresses in the #dontrushchallenge that trended in April.

The ladies, Priscilla Irabor, Catherine J. Bakura, Blessing Alfred Udida, Binti I. Attabor and Ockiya Eneni, were queried by the service in an April 15 memo.

The service said their action blighted its reputation, but many Nigerians condemned the query.

The Herald learnt that the reposting was done to avoid the backlash that could have resulted from demoting or dismissing the concerned female personnel.

NewsWireNGR reported that the service conveyed the five female personnel’s reposting in a May 12 memo.

According to the report, Priscilla Irabor has been transferred from the Lagos State Command to the Nigeria Immigration Training School, Kano (ITSK), while Binti Attabor has been reposted from the service headquarters in Abuja to the Yobe State Command.

Also, Catherine Bakura has been moved from the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Enugu to the Nigeria Immigration Training School Ahoada, Rivers State, while Blessing Alfred Udida has been moved from the FCT Command to the Akwa Ibom State Command.

In the same vein, Ockiya Eneni has been transferred from the CERPAC (Combined Expatriate Residence Permit and Aliens Card) Production facility to the Borno State Command.
