A Twitter user, @Tomiwa__A has narrated how he escaped death by the whiskers when a trailer fell off the Ojuelegba bridge and crushed the occupant of a car on Saturday night.
He said that the ill-fated car was right in front of him when the accident occurred.
The Lagos resident called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to find a lasting solution to the frequent menace of trailers falling from the bridge to crush vehicles and commuters below.
“Mr. Governor @jidesanwoolu a trailer fell off a bridge unto the car in Infront of me at Ojuelegba and it is the most fucked up thing I’ve ever seen in my life, I’m supposed to be dead right now. If there’s anything your administration should be known for, it should be stopping this.
“Please @jidesanwoolu do something about this. People just died in front of me for no reason.”

Meanwhile, The Herald learnt that the lone occupant of the green Honda Accord car that got crushed was a middle-aged man who has yet to be identified.
It was further learnt that the car driver was lifeless when rescue agents brought him out of the crushed vehicle.
This newspaper can report that the incidence of trailers falling off the Ojuelegba has become commonplace, as no fewer than four such accidents have occurred in the past year.
Commentators say the accidents are majorly due to the fact that the busy bridge lacks side-rails.
Some Lagosians who reacted to the latest incident berated the Lagos State Government for not doing enough to eliminate accidents on the bridge.
Since 2015 and nothing has changed.
Did they attempt to repair the bridge? Nope.
Did they attempt to enforce trucks to go under the bridge by installing height bar? Nope.
APC is such a cancerous party especially for Lagosians! https://t.co/D3Ua8kBGD5

What exactly is the mandate of FRSC, VIO, LASTMA, etc?
Irresponsible truck drivers, on a daily basis, are driving unlatched containers and endangering the lives of other road users, yet there are agencies of government being paid to regulate this.

Honestly, this issue of trailer plying our roads during the day is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. In most developed countries vehicles like that are only allowed to use the road at night when the road is free but here l, lives are put at risk because most of those

And to think, it's not the first time a trailer is falling off that Ojuelegba bridge. Not the second time too! Sigh!

Trucks move anyhow on Lagos roads with large containers without firmly belting it to the truck. That shud be assigned to LASTMA to deal with or any serious Lagos unit. We seek an end to this nonsense
