Former President Goodluck Jonathan has praised President Muhammadu Buhari for naming the Warri -Itakpe rail station in Agbor, Delta State after him.
He gave the commendation in an interaction with State House correspondents after meeting the president on Tuesday.
Jonathan headed the mediation team of Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on Mali’s lingering political crisis and was at the Presidential Villa to update Buhari on the international assignment.
The Herald reported that Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi on Saturday announced the president’s decision on the railway station’s renaming.
Reacting, Jonathan described the renaming as a good gesture from his successor.
He also thanked the transport minister for his role in the exercise.
He said, “Let me use this opportunity to commend Mr President publicly. I have already sent a letter to him appreciating the good gesture.
“Completing the railway programme is good. It shows that the President is going on with the legacy projects of previous administrations, and that is the way to go.
“So, I sent a letter to him. I have commended him verbally too. I appreciate it, I thank Mr President, the Minister of Transportation and others that made it possible.”
