Renowned rapper and actor Tobechukwu Ejiofor, popularly known as Illbliss, has shed light on his decision to take a hiatus from the music scene, citing a desire for diversification and a focus on fatherhood as key factors. In a recent appearance as a guest on the Hip TV program “Trending,” hosted by reality star KimOprah, Illbliss provided insights into the motivations behind his temporary departure from the music industry.
The multifaceted artist revealed that his journey into parenthood played a significant role in his decision to step back from his music career. Recounting the miraculous arrival of his two children, Illbliss shared personal anecdotes about the timing of their births, with his first child arriving eight years after his marriage, and his second daughter being born during the COVID-19 lockdown. These life-changing events prompted him to prioritize family and dedicate time to nurturing his bond with his children.
Speaking on the topic, Illbliss expressed, “My two kids came miraculously. My first child was born eight years after I married my wife while my second daughter born during the COVID-19 lockdown. So I took time off to be a dad; to spend time with my family and raise my kids.”
In addition to embracing fatherhood, Illbliss highlighted his exploration of new creative avenues beyond music as another driving force behind his sabbatical. The artist delved into the world of television, venturing into acting and production. Notably, his role in the acclaimed film “King Of Boys” marked a significant milestone in his transition to the screen.
Elaborating on his foray into diversified forms of expression, Illbliss explained, “I was trying to find diversification. So I moved into television as well. I had done ‘King Of Boys’ a year before then and I just felt like I needed to produce more; shoot more films, documentaries and get into spaces where I could still express myself artistically without just putting out music.“
