Governor of Rivers State Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike has declared that he will support any policy of the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration which will enhance the well-being of the people of the state even if he’s from the opposition party.

The governor said this yesterday as he swore-in Justice Christy Gabriel-Nwankwo as the substantive President of the State Customary Court of Appeal.

Wike, who spoke yesterday when the Local Study Group from the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, near Jos, paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Port Harcourt, said that his primary  focus is to work for the  good of the people of the state.

The governor said, “I will support  any policy of the federal government that will enhance the living standard of the people of Rivers State. It doesn’t matter who initiated such policy as long as it favours our people.”

Wike urged the federal government to find ways to implement the recommendations of different NIPPS study teams especially as they relate to poverty alleviation, adding that the state government will support the NIPPS study team in carrying out their research into poverty alleviation in the state.

Earlier, Director of Studies and Leader of Delegation  of the Study Group of NIPPS , Prof Celestine Oyom Bassey, said that the team was in the state to carry out an assessment of  the impact of poverty alleviation programmes in the state.

Meanwhile, Wike has sworn-in Justice Christy Gabriel-Nwankwo as substantive President of the Customary Court of Appeal, following her screening and confirmation by the State House of Assembly.

Performing  the  swearing-in at Government House, Port Harcourt, the governor charged members of the Bench at the State High Court and Customary  Court of Appeal to work towards ensuring greater stability in the judiciary
