I’ll contest for presidency in 2023 – Ahmed Yerima

2 Min Read

Former Zamfara State Governor, Ahmed Sani Yerima has declared his interest in the 2023 presidency.

Yerima said his declaration had become necessary after different groups from across the country approached him to seek the highest office.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) member, who has been governor and senator for eight years each, noted that attaining the presidency would help him make a difference in the lives of Nigerians.

“The APC has set a standard of producing a presidential candidate through direct primaries and by the grace of Allah I will contest the primaries.

“People will look for a candidate that has something to offer for the country, a common man will not look for money but will look for what I can offer to the country,” Yerima said.

Yerima promised to fight poverty, create job opportunities and address the infrastructural gap in the country.

The ex-governor said that while President Muhammadu Buhari was doing well in the fight against corruption and addressing insecurity, a lot more needed to be done to address poverty and unemployment.

Yerima served as Senator for Zamfara West between 2007 and 2015 and Deputy Minority Leader in the Senate.
