IGP To IPOB: ‘Your One-Million Man March Is Illegal’

1 Min Read

The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase has warned the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to desist from attempting to test the law with its ‘one-million man march’, stating that the police will deal appropriately with anyone caught in the act.

Arase described the march as illegal and warned against any attempt to unleash mayhem on innocent people going about their legitimate businesses.

It will be recalled that youths agitating for the realisation of the state of Biafra and the release of detained Director of Biafra Radio, Nnamdi Kanu reportedly blocked the Niger Bridge linking the South East with the rest of the country on Friday.

“Information available to the Nigeria police indicates plans by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to embark on ill-advised protests, using dangerous weapons across some south eastern states.

“For the avoidance of doubt, this is unlawful and no one should attempt to test the law,” Arase said.

While urging people not participate in the march, the IG said that the prohibition of possession of firearms is still in force.
