The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the arrest of the members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), popularly known as Shiites, and their leaders nationwide.
This is coming days after the proscription of the by a Federal High Court in Abuja last Friday,
The IGP stated that the Shi’ites “will be treated like terrorists and enemies of state,” and prosecuted under the Terrorism Act, including anyone associating with them in any way that could advance their activities in the country.

Adamu said this t the monthly conference with senior police officers in Abuja on Tuesday, noting that “all forms of procession or protest by IMN is now illegal and thus banned.”
Justice Nkeonye Maha had on Friday designated the activities of the IMN in any part of the country “as acts of terrorism and illegality,” asking the Federal Government to proscribe the Islamic sect.
