The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has directed that Mr. Kayode Egbetokun formerly the CSO of Bola Tinubu, should take over as the acting Commissioner of Police in Lagos State.
Before now, the CP of Lagos was Edgal Imohimi who will according to the Punch, take over as the head of the Explosives and Ordinance Disposal Unit in Abuja.
Whether Egbetokun’s appointment is a temporary fix, or a permanent one is still unknown.
What is known, however, is that before now, Egbetokun was the CP in charge of Explosives and Ordinance unit.

He was also a Deputy Superintendent of Police in 1999 before he was taken up as the CSO of former Governor of Lagos state, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to the Punch, a source of theirs said: “The redeployment of Egbetokun to Lagos was part of the Police operational strategies ahead of the 2019 general elections.
“You will recall that a number of senior Police officers, including Command Commissioners of Police, were redeployed in the past few weeks, which the Force headquarters has deliberately not made public, contrary to the usual practice.”
There have been a rash of movements within the Police Force with reports stating that this might have to do with the possible compulsory retirement of IGP Idris who turns 60 soon and will be obligated to vacate office.
