Afrobeats sensation Seun Kuti has shared a perspective on criticism directed at Nigerian politician Bola Ahmed Tinubu, suggesting that many critics would have a different view if they had direct access to him. Seun expressed this viewpoint during an appearance on The Honest Podcast, shedding light on the dynamics of public perception.
According to Seun, a significant reason some people express disdain for Tinubu is due to their lack of personal interaction with him. He argued that if individuals had the opportunity to get to know Tinubu on a personal level, their opinions might change.
Drawing on his own experiences growing up as the son of the late afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Seun mentioned how he questioned the public’s negative perception of his father, who he considered a “cool guy.” He emphasized that this disconnect between public image and personal experience is not exclusive to Tinubu, citing the tendency for public figures’ children to be scrutinized and criticized, yet later admired when wealth becomes a factor.
