A TV series adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s classic novel “Things Fall Apart” is in development at A24 Studios.
Idris Elba will star as Okonkwo, a fearless African warrior, and executive produce alongside David Oyelowo.
The series explores Okonkwo’s struggle to maintain power and tradition amidst British colonization.
“Things Fall Apart” is Achebe’s most widely studied and translated novel, part of his African Trilogy.
Previous adaptations include a film and miniseries starring Pete Edochie as Okonkwo.
Elba’s 22Summers production banner and Yoruba Saxon will produce, with Gina Carter, Amanda N’Duka, Ben Forkner, Dayo Ogunyemi, and Achebe Masterworks as executive producers.
Idris Elba recently earned an Emmy nomination for “Hijack” and partnered with Mo Abudu on “Dust to Dreams.”
