Residents of Ibadan were on Thursday left in apprehension following the fight between two factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Oyo State chapter.
Security operatives were able to arrive on time to quell the violence, arresting six suspects in the process.
Confirming the development, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi, said the suspects were apprehended by men of the Orita Challenge and Agodi Divisional Police Divisions in conjunction with Special Anti-Robbery Squad operatives.
He said no arms or ammunition were seized, adding that those arrested would be charged to court today (Friday).

The PPRO stated, “Three NURTW miscreants were arrested by our Orita Challenge division on Wednesday, and the other three were nabbed on Thursday in the Agodi area.
“The DPO in Agodi, with the assistance of SARS operatives, made the latest arrests possible. The NURTW members had been warned against fomenting trouble in the state.”
There had been apprehension in the state shortly after the March 9 victory of Governor Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party as factional members of the NURTW were threatening to effect a change of leadership on the inauguration day of the new governor, which held on Wednesday.
