Ibironke, also known as ‘Dudu Heritage,’ told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Ibadan that all hands were on deck to bring in corporate bodies and high net worth individuals to sponsor the club’s golf competitions.
NAN reports that Ibironke was recently sworn in alongside Tunji Oladosu (second Vice Captain); Mary Okunola (Lady Captain); Tunde Akande (Competition Secretary); Bayo Sodo (Treasurer); Mohammed Adegbayi (Handicap Officer) and Sunny Akosile (Course Officer).
They are all expected to run the affairs of the club for the next one year.
“Part of what we are trying to do is massive infrastructural development here in the club. Presently, we have low new membership and we looking for quality members.
“We are extending invitation for corporate membership to some organisations like Nigeria Medical Association, Nigeria Bar Association, Senior Cadre of Local Government and many more.
“When you draw corporate members, definitely you are attracting sponsors because the bedrock of any Golf Club is competition, and if you want to have a quality competition, you need corporate sponsors, and we are extending that to them.
“Aside of that, we want to go on enlightenment programme whereby people will know the essence of golf, because a lot of people see the game as an elite game.
“To me golf is a game of keeping fit and is the only sports you do and exercise all part of your body physically and mentally,” he said.
