Ibadan to enjoy 15 hours uninterrupted electricity supply – IBEDC

2 Min Read

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company has assured residents of its commitment to deliver improved power supply in the area.

Tribune reports:

The Managing Director of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc, Engr. Fortunato Leynes, made this promise at the company’s first journey to change knowledge sharing series which held in Ibadan over the weekend.

According to Leynes, one of the greatest challenges hindering uninterrupted power supply to customers is inadequate power generation capacity for his company to distribute to consumers.

“There is not enough power generating capacity for us to distribute to our customers and therefore cannot even generate enough revenue that will support our business operations and recovery of our investments. If we do not generate enough revenue, that puts us on a downwards spiral,” he stated while assuring that IBEDC was working hard to provide more than 15 hours of daily electricity supply to its customer.

Other challenges hindering uninterrupted power supply, he enumerated, include the low tariff paid by customers on electric consumption and the high level of dilapidated equipment which require urgent replacement.

Speaking on the essence of the knowledge sharing series being organised by the company, Deputy Managing Director of IBEDC Mr. John Darlington noted, that “the challenges are enormous but if we get our people, technology, attitude and discipline right, in the next two or three years our company will make the difference.”
