President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, November 22, denied reports which claimed that he was planning to seek a third term.
President Buhari made this know at a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja.
Specifically, the president said he would not make the mistake of attempting a third term. Going further, the president enumerated reasons why he would not seek another term.

The president was quoted to have said: “Beside the age, I swore by the holy book that I would go by the constitution and the constitution said two terms. I know that I’m in my last term and I can afford to be reckless because I’m not going to ask for anybody’s vote.”
During the meeting, Buhari called on APC leaders to ensure they remain politically relevant and dominate in their constituencies because history will not be kind to them all if the party collapses after the current administration.
He however said history will be fair to the party if it remains strong.
Meanwhile, The Herald reported that a human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, disclosed President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration agenda on free press in Nigeria, saying the attack on media in the country is over a third term agenda being nursed by the government.
The human rights lawyer made this known in Lagos on Thursday, November 7, at the public presentation of a book, Testimony to Courage, essays in honour of Premium Times publisher, Dapo Olorunyomi.
He also accused Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Abuja Federal High Court of bias against his client, Omoyele Sowore, saying the online news publisher had been convicted without trial.
