The war of words between Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and the senator representing Anambra Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Victor Umeh has continued unabated as Umeh took aim at Okorocha again on Wednesday.
The senator, who expressed anger with the ‘nonperforming senator’ appellation given to him by the governor, described Okorocha as a fraudster whom he will soon expose.
Umeh stirred the hornet’s nest by condemning the imminent impeachment of Okorocha’s deputy, Eze Madumere.
But reacting on Wednesday, Umeh described Okorocha as someone who became governor by deception and fraud.
He added that Okorocha would soon become the first governor to oversee the impeachment of two deputies, having overseen the impeachment of his deputy during his first term, Jude Agbaso.
Umeh said, “Rochas Okorocha is about making history in Nigeria as the only governor who impeached two deputies; and, because I advised him against impeaching the current one, he started attacking me.
“I regret supporting him to become a governor of Imo State, against all odds. I didn’t know he is a trickster and a ‘419’’ who found his way into office through fraud and deception.”
The lawmaker said he personally signed an accord 10 years ago that brought Okorocha to power.
He added that Okorocha had now turned to someone who attacked religious and political leaders at will for correcting or criticising him.
“Here is a man who was answering ‘yes sir’, ‘yes sir’ to me, even in the presence of my police orderly, who has been working with me in the last 13 years,” Umeh lamented.
“On getting to office, he suddenly changed, became a tiger and attacking every body. I have documents of some of his fraudulent practices and if he continues to attack me, I will publish them.”
