Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes he can hit his best form if given more game time in the 2015/2016 season.
He said this after scoring his first goal of the season in a 3-0 mauling of mid-table Guingamp on Tuesday, a match in which he also lost an 87th-minute penalty.
“The most important thing is that my game’s coming back little by little,” he told reporters. “I need to play matches to get back to my best level.
“I scored and the team won, so I’m happy. I felt good. We must continue like this and become even stronger.”
He has struggled to hit the form that saw him hit 75 goals in 93 appearances for the French champions, leading to criticisms from many quarters.
The former Inter Milan, Barcelona and AC Milan point-man has encountered series of injury problems that has seen him miss four games this season for PSG.
During the summer transfer window, the French giants were said to be pursuing FIFA Player of the Year, Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo to replace the 33-year-old Ibrahimovic who was expected to leave.
