Human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong said he watched a Facebook Live video of the shooting of journalist and activist, Omoyele Sowore.
He stated this in a tweet on Monday, shortly after the incident took place.
Effiong said that the former presidential candidate was shot by a female police officer.
“@YeleSowore has just been shot by a female police officer at the Unity Fountain in Abuja.
“The criminal officer is said to be an ACP. I watched Sowore being shot live on Facebook.
“This is what Nigeria has been turned into under Buhari. They’ve declared war on the Civic Space,” the lawyer tweeted at 9:52 AM.

An associate of Sowore and Convener of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju shared a video of the activist being taken to hospital after the shooting.
