Former Brazil and Real Madrid defender Roberto Carlos has expressed his desire to coach either team in the nearest future.
In a chat with Brazilian radio station Onda Cero, the retired left back, regarded as one of the best ever in the position, said he had been working hard to prepare himself for such opportunity.
“I’m working and learning here in order to come back as Real Madrid boss or head coach with Brazil, where I played for 17 years.
“I think the doors to both are open to me. If the time ever comes for me to return to Real Madrid, I’ll do it gladly,” he said.
He also bared his mind on the controversy surrounding the conduct of Barcelona players in Halloween costume at Getafe, stating that the pictures of the incident were not disrespectful to Getafe in anyway.
“I saw the photos and it looked fun,” he noted. “Whenever you lose you look for excuses or a way to divert attention. It wasn’t disrespectful”.
The 42-year-old also praised the choice of Rafa Benitez as the coach of Los Blancos.
“I’d never criticise a coach of Benítez’s calibre. If he’s at Real Madrid, he must bring something to the table,” Carlos stressed.
